The Des Moines Abolition Coalition and Des Moines Mutual Aid are offering to help you expunge, or delete, qualifying Iowa criminal records and charges from public databases. This will be a free service available to anyone.

Most dismissed charges and some misdemeanors qualify. Removing criminal charges from public view can help you pass background checks that can make it a little bit easier to qualify for jobs, housing, education, and public services. 

Background check operators are notoriously lazy, likely classist, probably racist, and are for sure pig traitors of the people. They tend to not investigate further than seeing there was a charge and not considering if it was dismissed, age of charge, or any other context.
