Fairfield Mutual Aid: Points Of Unity
Fairfield Mutual Aid is a local collective working to build autonomy from the state and capitalism. Below are our points of unity - the political and social outlook which binds us together.
1. Collectivized Self-Reliance & Solidarity
We understand that the state and capitalism can never and will never liberate us. We understand that capitalism is a system built entirely on the exploitation of human beings. Outside of the current stifling frameworks, we believe in using theory and praxis creatively, ambitiously, and intellectually to create our own autonomous existence that we find fundamental to being a human being. In spite of the failings and exploitations of capitalism, we as people must utilize our skills, values, and intellect to create a collectivized, self-reliant community ready to take our fulfillment and dignity into our own hands. We stand in solidarity with marginalized groups and working class peoples to have their back and help defend them from the atrocities of our bourgeois capitalist society. Capitalism and bourgeois society are obstructions to human dignity, ecological sustainability, and basic morality. We call not just for their abolition, but aim to build their replacements through mutual aid in the community.
2. Horizontalization & The Abolition of Hierarchical Decision Making
We function with decisions being horizontal. This gives all people, regardless of how current capitalist society views and distinguishes people, the means and framework to be able to make decisions within the collective on conditions that affect their lives - which is something we do not get under capitalism - but something we must have under an autonomous mutual aid collective striving to build a world worth living in.
3. Political Education & Social Education
We believe political and social education will give people the skills and tools to decipher the landscape of capitalism and the bourgeois society we are subjected to. This will provide a basis for critical thinking that allows people to understand and decipher the constant crises that occur under capitalism. And it will open avenues of critical thinking towards ideas in support of mutual aid, an autonomous collective, and furthermore a society that is built by human beings that we will find fulfillment and dignity in.
